MODERN COASTAL GARDEN
SOUTH WESTERN CAPE SOUTH AFRICA
PROVENÇALE MEETS SOUTH-WESTERN CAPE
A Provençale feel permeates this garden design with hints of Mexico, as it wraps around modern architecture and introduces a spilt level garden. Raising the colour temperature at the entrance with frothy, coral-coloured bougainvillea to welcome you, and with the sound of water as you approach the front door. Materials include local stone with handcrafted cast-iron waterspouts and curved handrails.

Proposal
Shelter from coastal winds can be found in this inclusive and social poolside deck.
Natural materials contrast texture with stone, light hardwood decking and white render to complement the modern architecture.
Planted with verdant, indigenous tropical foliage that pops against the concrete render wall casting playful shadows as the sun moves across the space.
On the Silvermine mountains outside Cape Town and with spectacular far-reaching views, the new terraced design is sympathetic to its locale, not interrupting but enhancing the view by framing it with a pair of Cypress trees and a low lavender Hidcote border.
The garden features mountain views that could be enhanced by natural planting, as shown in the sketch proposal.
A protected productive garden suited to dry climate plants, snuggles into a lower level away from the wind. Natural local materials are used in the detail of this sustainable design with water conservation integrated and screened.
