Design Approach

With a background in Art and Design Jacqui creates modern gardens using a painterly approach combined with years of horticultural knowledge and experience. Her designs consider colour, composition, balance and proportion to ensure a delightful place to be in, also directing both visual and spatial flow as you move through a garden to a desired destination.

Environment & Sustainability

The relationship between architecture, the garden’s intended use and the wider landscape connects with respect to a garden’s location. We use locally sourced materials where possible, plant for pollinators and design lighting for dark skies. We are committed to encouraging sustainable, biodiverse solutions as functional and beautiful spaces to enjoy, and which offer accumulative return on investment.

Design Process

We appreciate most people have never had a garden designed for them. To help you understand the design process, below is a step by step guide which is split into two phases: Concept Design and Detailed Design.

Phase 01 // Concept Design

STEP 1 - CONSULTATION

Your project begins with a discussion about your project at an initial consultation. We listen to your needs and aspirations, gain an understanding of its intended use and get a feel for its contextual setting.

STEP 2 - DESIGN BRIEF

Following this we write a Design Brief that summarises our meeting and outlines the design stages, fees and a timescale for the work.

STEP 3 - SITE SURVEY

Once appointed, we arrange a survey so that your outdoor space is accurately assessed and measured from the outset, avoiding potential costly errors down the line.

STEP 4 - MASTERPLAN

We design a Masterplan and present this to you along with initial sketches, moodboard images showing planting style and material ideas, drawings and 3D images of your garden to give you an impression of how your garden will look and feel.

Phase 02 // Detailed Design

The second phase details construction and planting specifications.

STEP 1 - DESIGN DRAWINGS

On approval of the Masterplan, we produce a package of detailed technical drawings that can be used by a landscaper to build your garden. These may include construction detailing, specification drawings and lighting plans.

STEP 2 - PLANTING DESIGN

A planting plan with plant illustrations is designed for your approval. Planting gives character to a garden, will suit the conditions of your site, aspect and soil, add seasonal interest and meet your maintenance requirements.

STEP 3 - PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION

This stage is optional as you may prefer to deliver the design yourself. Should you choose our supervision we can offer help with 1. Tendering and 2. Implementation. We have good working relationships with professionally accredited landscapers and approach them for quotes on your behalf. We closely supervise the build and planting with an agreed number of visits to deliver an exceptional result.
